About Marion Brett Werth

Passionate Writer

Marion was passionate for Jesus and through her passion for our Savior and for all to know Him she wrote His story of redemption through her life story using poetry. Rhyme and rhythm were woven into her life from birth through her parents and through her education. Memorization was a significant part of her schooling as there were few books or papers to use. She learned much through songs and poems.

Marion learned to express her thoughts, journal, communicate, and give to others through poetry. She hand wrote hundreds of cards and letters annually to friends and relatives. You may have been the recipient of one of her birthday, anniversary, graduation, or Christmas cards, or perhaps a personal letter telling you about Jesus and His love for you.

Marion's Family

She met her husband, Charles Werth, nine years her senior, when she was only a teenager because her sister Tootie married Charles’ best friend, Tom.

In 1952, when Marion was 18, Charles went over to visit at Marion's parents’ house. Marion was outside working on her car. He noticed that “little” Marion had grown up into a beautiful young woman, and he asked her out on a date. One year later, they were married and shared another 59 years together!

Grateful July 7, 2000

I am grateful to be a mother and wife

Grateful to have a spirit filled life

Grateful you chose me before I was born

Grateful you’ve led me along

You are love and compassion all rolled into one

Both Savior and Master – God’s only son

I’m grateful to you for the children I had

And for all of their spouses and each daughter and lad

Grateful you’ve given me a choice

To let you lead and to hear your voice

This is the way my child, walk ye in it

Oh! God, I wouldn’t change a minute –

Of this life you’ve given me

I’m so grateful just to “be”.

The rest of the story . . .

Marion left a legacy of love to her children.

On February 9, 1984 at the age of 49 she wrote:

As you read my poems,

I hope the message will travel home

And wherever you may roam

You know you are God's house, you are his home

And then you'll learn to love yourself too

And you'll know that God loves you

He chooses us to do his work on earth

he chooses us right from our birth

We're here and saved because of his grace and mercy today

His son, he gave to take our sins away

Please listen to him

and follow his guidance all the way

Each and every single day

Then I will know as I lay down

That you'll be safe and happy, and without a frown

I'll wait for you in the promised land

And then we'll all walk hand-in-hand.
